Ignorance and Naivet’e can be an obstacle in your path

To state the obvious sometimes is not so obvious. How about this: Shaklee has a 50 year old proven record of success. The obvious is still argued today by people who simply don’t take the time to the research and take it as a legitimate lesson in business. Even Fortune 500 companies don’t have such a record. If you have ever read this book, The World is Flat by Thomas Friedman, then you know what this “obvious” concept is telling us.

I’m glad that my little blog is starting to mean something to me. It means that I’m a student who shares with others. I found a discussion about how Shaklee products where featured on Oprah. People where discussing about how they find this event suspect and unfair to the distributors. They also questioned the rules regarding web promotion. I then went to my members’ site, and read the website policies and it was all clear to me. Yet people continue to share notes based on speculation. How empty is that? Sorry if I sound judgemental, yet we must do research and gain understanding of the facts if we want to contribute value to any forum. Isn’t this obvious?

I’m just happy that Shaklee is growing and that millions are getting to hear about it. There is so much more to come, like the expansion into fifty countries. We can question that too, or simply be like me, hang on tight and enjoy the ride!

While many wonder others grow

Today Shaklee is the No. 1 Health and wellness company in the U.S. I feel so proud and excited to be able to claim that fact. As a distributor, I’m at the beginning of what could be a great organization, my organization. Last night I watched the 50th Anniversary DVD that took place last year and it was so empowering. One thing that really got my attention and kind of made me silent with respect and amazement is this: The Shaklee organization cares about people of all backgrounds. That sounds a bit generalized, but it is a statement backed up by action. In the DVD you can hear Dr. Shaklee saying “we can offer you this opportunity. We are proud of the quality of these products, but you can’t just believe in the products or the compensation. You have to believe in yourself.” This is more than a wise advice, it is the core of this whole company. I’ll say this: Even if I never reach any level in Shaklee (which is something I have no intention in ever giving up) I will still feel blessed and privileged to have found such wholesome company.
As I am part of this Shaklee family, I can say that WE have a message for you. You have the power to have a healthy and vibrant life, money to take care of your needs and wants, and the power to bless those in need and those you love. Shaklee is a great vehicle for all your goals. But I know that it is a process and that the world doesn’t seem like such a fun place that encourages you to dream big. But Shaklee is growing and heading in a direction that will affect all those who take that important step to pursue a life of abundance, goodness, and so much more. Whatever you want.

It is never too late unless you say it is

I say it’s not too late. I can still rescue my family and future. I met an incredible person, Angel T., the man who’s been always interested in the good of others. I also resolved so many issues I had in my family. I’ve been really regaining focus on my business and family. Shaklee is still my vehicle for success. The success I’m talking about is about knowing that I’m being diligent enough to care for others and sharing what I know for their benefit. This desire of Sharing Shaklee products and the opportunity has been in me for a long time. So, I don’t think I’ll be selling cars, distributing kitchen tools, or doing telemarketing. Instead I’ll be praying and growing my Shaklee Business. I never will give up on myself.

Despite the obstacles the choice is still ours.

Shaklee will be in 50 countries and it will make a difference in millions of people. Despite changes in the economy, scarcity, and any change in our world, you can’t fight demographic trends. Certainly this is something anyone in Shaklee can be proud about. Yet, many of us are not in a position to jump into the opportunity. We have basic challenges involving bills, food, and employment. On a TV spot they say that multilevel companies should not be sought out as a replacement of your current job. The average person makes 250 per month. Still Shaklee has paid the most commission checks in the industry. And Shaklee has also invested the most money into their product research. If you were to join any direct marketing company it should definitely be Shaklee. We will be in 50 nations and we are the Number 1 health company in our industry! Still, individuals may not jump up off their feet in excitement because they’re tired from their hectic day. People may feel that it sounds good on paper or on a CD, but they can’t see how they could really be a part of it!

From what I am surrounded with, most of us have resigned to what we consider “reality.” That’s not to say that we aren’t dreaming of a better life, but we are keeping that for lighter conversations. We all desire a life of good health, adequate income and great experiences. The question is how will this become possible for the rest of us? And the answer is the same as in the movie The Matrix. In fact, I once heard a story of a man who got locked inside a freezer and he decided that he was going to die. Because he believed that he was going to die, he grabbed a piece of card board and started recording how he was feeling as he gradually died. The next day they discover his body and the note. He was dead, but not because of the temperature. The temperature was not sufficiently cold to freeze. He could have survived. We choose.

So I encourage you all as I encourage myself to believe you can and will have he life you want. Last night I saw a man on TV who had no legs and no arms. He said that if he had to choose to have his legs and arms he would not. His life was filled with joy and accomplishment, as he had traveled throughout the world talking to people about God. He said that it’s not what you “have” or don’t “have”. It’s about being available.

Wipe off your tears and stop grinding your teeth. I suggest we take baby steps and claim this awesome life. And, so far I haven’t found any other company that I can trust to partner with and proudly represent in my business than Shaklee.

I must be really misguided to still be pining at the belief that I will actually build my Shaklee business. The truth is that I have been holding on for a few years now. I have believed in the Shaklee business philosophy for at least 5 years. There was a time when my wife also believed in it as much as I do. We did a few adventurous things like giving away lemonade at the park (only a few uninterested kids asked for some to drink), going door to door to talk to our neighbors in our apartment complex (that brought one lady who had back pain) and we also gave away little Basic-H’s. Today “Basic H” is “Basic H2″, which is truly a pleasure to use in the house for almost anything.

All these experiences were filled with sobering results. In retrospect, I know that we could have approached it in a more professional or planned/structured way. Still, we took some individual bold steps and we ought to be proud of being willing to do whatever it takes to achieve our goals. I also believe that our reckless abandon was influenced by some of the claims we had been hearing in our business CD’s. So called leaders stated things like “back in 1989 I started working from home and today I enjoy my beautiful house and I get to see my children going to college and living the life.” It made us want to have the same so much, and we didn’t really know how to get started. So we did what we thought we were supposed to do. Etc.

But here I am determined to make a name for myself using this oh so awesome and admired belief called Shaklee. The man that started it all (Dr. Forrest Shaklee) certainly was pretty determined. As the story tells it, he had this idea of creating products that truly had the best nature had to offer. In turn one benefit from the full potency of the ingredients and the body receives the nutrients to make it stronger and fight diseases and other preventable illnesses. Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, but I’ll share more on this on future posts.

I’d say, doing Shaklee is one of the few truly worth while things to do in life. I have so much to be proud about the heritage, foundation, and future of this company. I want to make it mine; share it with people with excitement and truth. The earnings are more than suitable and it’s just a matter of finding your focus.

I’ll summarize my rambling with a simple phrase: Building Shaklee is a serious task with immensely fulfilling potential.

The Charlattan

Here’s another twist to my endeavors. I’m starting to feel like I will never complete this job. In fact, I’m starting to think that I will remain being a talker. There is no excuse for not having completed this job. But Septembers is not over and I’m trying to scrape as much dignity and hope as I can before I really make a fool of myself. So My new deadline will be September 30th. The Shaklee site will not be complete, but it will be launched with all the product essays that I will write.

I am so sorry to myself for not having fulfilled this goal. When people start discovering this blog, they’ll see that there’s a human being behind the smile. It is important to be honest in this area, even if it is totally embarrassing. Except that I’m not embarrassing just myself. I’m the head of my family. Ouch!

So I have eight days including today. I am scared of failing again.

I need an extension

There have been a few obstacles that have led me to decide to postpone my deadline to next Thursday - Sept 20(midnight.) This goal to build a Shaklee business is one of my most daunting so far. I’m not looking at this as a “part-time” way to get some extra money for a car payment or a few extra things. I am looking at Shaklee to build a whole organization of people who are my friends and those who really benefit from the products and the business. In this light, I feel very overwhelmed by the vision or the aspirations I’m creating. Sometimes I feel afraid that I don’t have a realistic plan. But I’m at the point that I’ve learned too much to believe that I’m wrong in my beliefs. See these videos if you are ready to see some legitimate truths that could really open your eyes:

or I am part of the 80% to 90% of people who have to pay the taxes and runs in the rat race. I’m sure a large percentage of my fellow bloggers are in the same position even if they don’t believe it themselves. The truth is we are all under a system of great possibilities and great obstacles. Most give in and the rest give up. And a few keep fighting and going against the flow. This is like the poem by Robert Frost. As a Christian I know that this life is not about surviving. It’s about taking over.

Summary:

I’ve had a fraudulent charge on my checking account, money is short, bills aren’t getting paid, etc…For this I will postpone the deadline I set for my business to launch. I’m sorry that it is not going as perfectly as planned, but this is a still a good documentation of what a person might go through in the beginning stages.

Nine Days Left

I haven’t completed much of my website or Action Blog, yet the deadline still stands. I woke up and knew that this is it for me. See, I’ve been making claims that the web could really make me money. I’ve said this to many friends and closed relatives with statements such us “They don’t know what they’re doing, that’s why they’re not getting the traffic to really make money!” Well, when will I put the money in my mouth? This is not the first time I speak passionately about something and then simply do nothing to prove my statements. It’s like saying “that looks easy, I could do it!” and then never really doing anything. How does that work for credibility?
Tuesday Morning, I grabbed my journal and wrote all the reasons why I need to fulfill this deadline. It’s about stopping being a charlattan, it’s about giving others evidence that I’m not just all words, it’s about giving my wife and children inspiration and belief. It may sound sentimental to some, but I know this is true. How many people have parents that have made promises or spoken about accoplishing a goal and done nothing? Tell me if this makes you sorry for your dad and if this inspires you to pursue the same goal? Although we all must make our decisions, we all do carry the memories of those who ispired us or those who made us lose hope.
I’m 27 years old, I have no degree and no retirement plan. When I’m 40 things could be exactly the same but I wouldn’t be so alarmed at my status, I would feel that this is just “the way it is.” So, I’m writing to say that I will fufill this goal. I’m not sure how, because I have to come up with about 24 essays containing keywords and strategic content. Also, I have to organize my site in the form or a health resource website. I can a build a whole website in less than four hours, so there is a good chance that I could do it with FOCUSS.
As many self help gurus suggest, “begin with the end min mind”. So I already visualize my website being a great source of information and products. Visitors feel that they get just what they need in plain English with practical application to daily health decisions. Because we all like to buy what we feel is good for us. My website is honest, useful, reliable, informative, and it just feels good to visit it!
I wonder if by September 13th, midnight I will accomplish this. Actually I don’t wonder about it, I know it will be done. I better get more work done instead of talking about it.

The hardest thing to do

As most of us may have experienced to start something and to end something is one of the biggest humps we all must climb. I’ve had this challenge many times during my years in Miami, FL. Yet I remember times when I was younger and anything was possible. I did many things that a kid in my position could only imagine. People would single me out out of crowd and ask me to do things that very few people do. Example; give a speech in front of the first lady of the nation (Bolivia), or go to a foreign country to represent children’s rights on behalf of your nation. Back then when I was a Bolivian, 3rd world nation kid, things were possible. How ironic, to be in the land of opportunity (how trite huh?) and still struggle with procrastination. It’s a disease I tell ya!

At any rate, here it goes: By September 13th I will officially start to pursue my business to the best of my ability. I’ve been repeating this to my wife and myself so that it is really official whether I feel ready and capable or not. I will create and maintain 3 websites. My main product presentation website, my audio and video website, and this my record of activity toward a magnificent goal. Here’s the truth, all this time I’ve been reading a book on SEO and website building standards. Also, reading a book about writing well for websites. Much of the information I read I already knew! I’m so grateful that I think I have a natural inclination to be a great presenter and public person. I enjoy making my message palatable and useful to people. I love it when others benefit by my efforts. So, when it comes to great web design and really obtaining a decent income you have to provide a service. My whole hearted desire is precisely that!

Here we go, the time is…LATE! and I’m about to being writing paragraph after paragraph for my website. Whenever you, my friend, the reader find this blog, feel free to share your thoughts. I will definitely read and respond if need be. The journey continues. This is just a way to make this otherwise tedious and arguably hopeless project more interesting!
